Once you try making your own PORK TOCINO, it’s gonna be difficult to go back to store bought. 😁 It’s so easy and honestly tastes so much better!

Pork Tocino is Filipino Bacon but sweet and sticky when cooked. Traditionally, you’re supposed to cure the meat, but I’ve always marinated mine, and it still works.

Instructions

  1. In a large container with lid, add pork slices (1 lb), brown sugar (½ cup), salt (½ tsp), black pepper (½ tsp), soy sauce (¼ cup), annato water (¼ cup), and garlic (3 cloves)

  2. Massage the meat until it's fully coated in the marinade. Cover and let it sit in the fridge overnight.

  3. Add cooking oil (3 Tbsp) on a pan over medium heat.

  4. Add pork slices with the marinade.

  5. Let it cook, stirring often until the sauce reduces to a glaze and ust that's essential in a tocino.

  6. Serve Silog style, which means with fried rice and fried egg and enjoy!
