It’s a Filipino thing to pair fried chicken with gravy so here’s my easy and quick recipe on how to make chicken gravy.

Ingredients (7)

  1. Melt butter (2 Tbsp) in a saucepan over low heat.

  2. Add a bit of the oil you used to fry the chicken (1 Tbsp).

  3. Add flour (2 Tbsp) and stir. Let it cook or simmer on low heat for 5 minutes to get rid of the raw flour taste.

  4. Add chicken powder (1 tsp) and hot water (1 cup). Stir or whisk.

  5. Add black pepper ( tsp) and stir and let it simmer for 1 minute.

  6. Add soy sauce (1 tsp) and stir.

  7. When the gravy coats the spoon, that means it's ready.

  8. Transfer to a bowl and serve with fried chicken and rice.

Notes

  • The recipe for the fried chicken is in the previous post.
  • You can use chicken stock instead of water and chicken powder.
  • The gravy will thicken slightly after it sits for a while.
